Raymond John Kosub died on August 14, 2021. Born in San Antonio on August 29, 1939 to Pauline (Halbardier) and Emil F. Kosub Sr. He was one of the four boys of the Kosub house. Raymond married Etta, the love of his life in October 1965 where they remained devoted to each other for almost 55 years.
Ray graduated in 1958 from East Central High School. He served in the US Army National Guard where he was an expert sniper. He enjoyed playing baseball until his forties. Most of his career has involved sales and management in the veterinary / agricultural industry. He had a great passion for hunting. He loved farming, its tractors and cows, and a good game of fishing. When the grandchildren arrived he loved to teach them about his love for the outdoors. He was a master at designing and building anything on the farm. He was also an active member of the Lutheran Church in Highland Park. He remembered everyone by name who crossed his path and was a great friend to all.
Ray is predeceased in death by his loving wife Etta Kosub; parents, Pauline and Emil Kosub Sr .; brothers Emil Kosub Jr. and Clarence Kosub .; little girl; Meghan Baxter Kosub.
Ray is survived by his daughter; Lori LaBarbera and her husband Nick; his son Kevin Kosub and his wife Melissa; grandchildren Patrick and Taylor LaBarbera and Nathan Kosub and wife Selina; great-grandson Percy Kosub; brother Ken Kosub and wife Elaine; sisters-in-law Bitsy Kosub and Betty Gest as well as many nieces and nephews and longtime friends.
Visitations will be on Sunday August 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Porter Loring Funeral Home (downtown San Antonio).
A funeral service will be held on Monday August 23 at 10 a.m. at the Highland Park Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow in the cemetery of San Fernando III.
Instead of flowers, the family asks you to plant an oak tree in their honor to remember their love for nature.
