Fishing day for children on Saturday

Youth 15 and under can fish all day for free

On Saturdays, youngsters have the opportunity to fish all day for free and connect with nature through a variety of activities at Roaring River State Park. From 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., young people aged 15 and under will be able to obtain free tags at the park shop to fish on the day of the event. A section of the river, from the first low water level to the hatchery, will be specially reserved for fishing for young people. Adults will not be allowed to fish alone in this area. Some lunker trout will even be released for youngsters to try and catch.

Volunteers will be present to help the young fishermen. Parents and guardians are welcome to help children as needed, but only one pole between child and helper can be used at any time.

The event will take place as long as weather conditions are deemed safe. This joint event with the Missouri Department of Conservation will also feature nature activities and bluegrass music.
