When Jennifer Coolidge’s character Tanya meets a BLM man in The white lotus Episode 4 on HBO, she assumes he’s part of the Black Lives Matter movement. However, Jon Gries’ character Greg is part of a different BLM. Here’s why organizational confusion means more than viewers realize. “The White Lotus” episode 4 recap: The BLM
Jon Gries joins The white lotus as guest star in episode 4 as Greg of the BLM. He appears to be trying to get into Tanya’s room after her spa treatment. Greg apologizes to Tanya for trying to enter the wrong room. Then he told her he was on a deep sea fishing trip with a group of guys from the BLM. Greg is an older man, divorced and single, and he invites Tanya to dinner.
Although Tanya has planned to have dinner with the spa manager, Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), she quickly cancels them for the new guy. When Tanya apologizes to Belinda, she adds that Greg is part of a “Black Lives Matter” group – hoping that improves the cancellation. However, it wasn’t the BLM that Tanya thought it was in this episode of. The white lotus.

Later at dinner, Tanya asks Greg how he got involved with Black Lives Matter. What made him want to dedicate his life to activism? Greg is momentarily confused then laughs.
Greg is part of the Bureau of Land Management, not Black Lives Matter. However, the misunderstanding doesn’t matter to Tanya, and she ends the evening by inviting Greg inside for a “nightcap.”
BLM’s ‘the White Lotus’ confusion is ironic
HBO The white lotus touches the family land of Kai (Kekoa Scott Kekumano) in the same episode someone from the BLM shows up. According to the BLM website, the mission of the Bureau of Land Management is “to maintain the health, diversity and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.”
So, people whose mission is to protect the land vacation together at a resort that stole land from native islanders.
“They are the ones who kicked us out,” Kai told Paula of the hotel in the first few minutes of The white lotus Episode 4. “The government terminated our lease illegally.”
Viewers think something could happen between Greg and Kai

Many viewers think Kai’s story on earth is trustworthy and want him to steal the bracelets.
“I think his story is true, but I think he will also rob the family so he can find his brothers a good lawyer and they can get their land back,” one viewer wrote on Reddit. Honestly, I love Kai, and to him, I say, do what you gotta do, hunk. Steal those infidelity bracelets! “
However, other viewers believe that something could be happening between BLM’s character in The White Lotus and Kai.
“[Itâs] really interesting that [Kai] is discussing the theft of his family land, âa fan wrote on Reddit. âThen a government land management officer (the modern version of the guys who stole all the land from the Native Americans) shows up. Something brewing there? “
