Yancey County

Yancey County is on the Tennessee - North Carolina border and is surrounded by Madison, Buncombe, McDowell, and Mitchell counties.  Burnsville is the major town in the county.  Mount Mitchell State Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, which skirts the southern edge, are both within the county.

Lickskillet Creek (game lands portion)

Middle Creek (game lands boundary to mouth) (3 miles)

Rock Creek (game lands boundary to mouth) (8 miles) *nice tributaries slow fishing in main creek, looks better than it fishes!

Catch and Release Artificial Lures Only Waters

Upper Creek (3 miles) *good mid summer fishing, lots of climbing. For more information click here!

Catch and Release Fly Fishing Only Waters

South Toe River (portion from concrete bridge above Black Mountain Campground downstream to game lands boundary, excluding Camp Creek and Big Lost Cove Creek) *some big fish, very tough in summer due to low clear water and heavy pressure! For more information click here!
