Tailrace / River Information Page

The tailrace fisheries here in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee provide the local and visiting angler "western" size rivers to fish without the travel costs.  These tailraces originate at dams which release cold water from the bottom of area lakes, this provides constant water temps and allows for year around fishing opportunities. 


The cold water being released from the bottom of these lakes can produce "world class" trout fisheries with a little help from the State and Federal Wildlife folks.
These tailrace rivers are a by-product of power generation, they can be dangerous places, you must keep in mind the river conditions can change nearly instantly!!!
