Where To Fish in Western NC

This page will try and help you locate public fishing locations.   Western North Carolina has many miles of fishable trout waters, wnctrout.com will try to give you an edge on finding these locations.  Most, if not all, of the locations will be either NC Gamelands,  National Forest Property or Great Smoky Mountains National Park property.  Most of these locations have been taken from the current NC Regulations Digest, we'll try to put personal note on the streams we have fished in the last year or so.  The streams will be listed by county and some streams cross county lines and will be listed twice. 

Contact the NC Wildlife Resource Commission to buy a map of the trout waters in NC. 
These maps are $12 plus tax and can be obtained by calling 919-662-4377.

Macon County is on the Georgia - North Carolina border and is surrounded by Swain, Graham, Cherokee, Clay and Jackson counties.  Franklin and Highlands are the two major towns within the county.
