Avery County

Avery County is located on the Tennessee - North Carolina border.  It's surrounded by Watauga, Mitchell, McDowell, Burke and Caldwell counties.   Banner Elk is the largest town in Avery county.  The Blue Ridge Parkway travels through the southern section of the county.

Catch and Release Artificial Lures Only Waters

Wilson Creek (Game Land Portion) (15 miles)* hiking is required form 1/2 mile to 3 miles depending on access trail, which are a task in themselves to locate.  Remote stream and we all know what that means!!!!! For more information click here!

Catch and Release Artificial Flies Only Waters

Lost Cove Creek (Game Land Portion excluding Gragg Prong Creek and Rock House Creek) (16 miles)* excellent fishing, short hike is required from .7 of a mile to Hunt Fish Falls to 2 miles at Little Lost Cove, nice trail along most of creek!
